Web app: Altran PTS

image from [unsplash]

"PTS" stands for "People Tracking Software". Consisted of an experimental tool for the management of employees and their satisfaction, and to help in the recruitment process, considering the specific needs of Altran. Developed in a team of four people, all students and all full-stack devs, during around 5 months with the purpose of delivering the product as "Projeto de Estágio" - the final project delivered and presented in University.

Given the confidential nature of the project, I cannot share the link nor the final report, and I believe even the video with the demonstration of the app would be too much. If the contract ever expires, I may update this page.

Android app: TUA App

Contribution to an Android App to help in the TUA process of Altran: the process where employees can recommend a friend to a job application in the company. The goal was to increase the transparency of the process, allowing employees to accompany all the stages.

Portrait

From 2017. I really, really like this portrait, and I'm still amazed at how I did it running against time and with the wrong conditions: I worked on it for 11 hours without pausing, and I even called my mother to ask for permission to give up when I was so tired and complaining because the sun was down and I become disoriented painting without natural light (I was on the verge of tears). She didn't let me give up xD The conditions were that bad because a friend of a friend decided to commission for a portrait and took so long to send the photo that I only had one day to do it. I had every reason to refuse, yet I needed the money and didn't want to let the person down.

Still, I'm glad I did it. I love the textures and soft shadowing.

University Project: SIC 2

An application developed for SGRAI classes, complementing SIC, that stands for "Stock in Closet" - yes, that's a pun, but related to the app since it's goal was to manage the stock of closets. The app should also allow the users to customize their orders - changing the number of doors, sections, shelves and materials of the standard closet, and see the price adjusted to those changes. In this app, the idea was to allow the user to make the changes by interacting with a 3D model.

The project served as a base to a later LAPR project. LAPR simulated a work-like environment where students developed complex projects and held weekly sessions with a client. The requirements and most of the tools and frameworks were imposed. There was a different project of between 2 weeks to one month at the end of each semester.

Blog template: Minimalism

Let's make it clear that this template is inspired by minimalistic house decoration - but minimalistic itself? Not so much, though I still like the results. It's from a transitory phase, where the styles were not as excessive as in my older layouts and I was more careful with the alignments, yet still not responsive and far from what would be considered a good layout today.

That said, one of the purposes of this blog is to show how my skills evolved, so I'm not shying away of displaying how I started. This template in specific allies a certain minimalism with creativity typical from old-school blogs, and I don't think that's bad for personal use.

CV: Ocean

I made this curriculum for myself, and while with several adjustments - the images shown here are the third version - I like the structure, the dark background, and how the colors I chose based on the image of the ocean just pop in the page. My photo and personal data were erased.

Original - River

Something I did this april to give to my mother as a birthday present. It was the first time I attempted backgrounds digitally, and while it is mostly photobashed, I don’t regret it. I know I will never have interest in drawing backgrounds and at least this way my art feels less empty. I love how the woman is so thick, and also her hair and eyes, and I liked the white details inspired by the art of the Dragon Age Cards.

Android app: Movies app

image from [unsplash]

This was a "training" application, basically the first app I built in Android. It was a challenge proposed by Altran, the company I started working for, since I had pretty much no experience in Android. They gave me some requirements and 3 days to learn everything and check the requirements the best way I could. After those 3 days, they reviewed my project and pointed out how I could improve.

It's an app that simply retrieves a list of movies from [The Movie Database] and displays the movies posters and information, with error messages when the app can't connect to the internet, refresh, etc. Most of the requirements had to do with the architecture and technologies and frameworks I should use.

University project: Cafeteria

The Cafeteria project was a project developed by the whole EAPLI class, in Java. Each student was charged with one or two relatively complex Use Cases, and had to be careful with merging their UC's with the other... what, around 25 students?

The project was a tool to manage the necessities of a Cafeteria, from the payment to the database of dishes, allergens and orders. The project served as a base to a later LAPR project.

LAPR simulated a work-like environment where students developed complex projects and held weekly sessions with a client. The requirements and most of the tools and frameworks were imposed. There was a different project of between 2 weeks to one month at the end of each semester.

Sadly, I'm not the admin of the bitbucket repository and therefore can't grant public access.

My contribution to this project

  • Coding of the Use Cases "Register Allergen" and "Register Dish"
  • Creation of the respective Sequence Diagrams, that can be seen here:

Original - OC's concept

Concept art of characters from a story still only in my head ;) I used the manga Pandora Hearts as a reference for the expressions, since this is just a training page and I love how the mangaka draws her characters. I ended up putting more effort and liking the result more than I expected…

Fanart - Catradora (She-Ra)

A fanart of She-Ra I finished after watching the last season, to celebrate the Catradora ending. Being a multishipper, I also supported Glimmadora and a bit of Glitra and the OT3, but to have Catradora be canon is extremely meaningful and Noelle really was able to do a lot for the lgbt+ community. Also, I always knew the sow wouldn’t be queerbaiting and I will never understand why people claimed that before the end (like, during the first season…). This is a relatively quick drawing. Still took me hours, because I’m not very experienced with digital art yet, but I like the result and hope the fandom likes it too. My two babies need some rest :) Step-by-step: [www]

Fanarrt/Fix-it art - Marvel New Heroes

This is more a fix-it-art than a FANart xD Basically I was frustrated with the announcement of Snowflake and Safespace from the new Marvel’s comic, New Heroes. From the design to the name. And it frustrates me even more to see some people believe this is what the lgbt+ community asked for, when is pretty much the opposite of it, and Snowflake feels almost like a mockery of non-binary people (and as enby myself, it bothers me)

Of course, while many people fault marvel’s good intentions and non-binary people for wanting to see themselves represented, some awsome critics and artists have proven that it’s possible to criticize Marvel while still being respectful towards the lgbt+ community, and many, many people have even posted their redesigns and headcanons. Basically showing Marvel how it should be done. Some of my favorite contributions from other artists, like Kat Blaque. Check the links to their art and the step-by-step here: [www]

Original #DrawThisAgain

Step-by-step:

As you can probably understand by yourselves, this is a Draw this Again (a challenge where artists try to recreate their old works to see how their art style evolved) - with the drawing on the right being the most recent, from 2019. I don't have a post with the older drawing, thank god, because that thing was probably one of the first drawings I ever did after starting to learn how to draw manga.

The funny thing was that I opted to recreate that one precisely because it seemed so simple, but the redraw took me longer than I was expecting - in particular the painting of the feathers (you can check the step-by-step on the last pics). And I actually love it, even now that I'm starting to learn how to paint digitally. I love the features, the asymmetry, the dynamism... and the drawing itself xD

Fanart - Garrett (Thief)

I'm both proud and disappointed with this drawing.

First of all, why disappointed? Because now that I understand more about cultural appropriation, I understand how the theme of the drawing was a mistake. At the time (2017), my sister asked me for a fanart of Garret from the game Thief, and I felt inspired by the last pic of this post (if you know the name of the artist, let me know - I had simply saved that print from a music video), trying to reproduce the same kind of facial painting. I don't know anything about the "Dia de los Muertos" nor about the Mexican culture, which was the minimum I could have done to minimize the propagation of something symbolic as pure fantasy. Therefore I'm writing this both to show I recognize my mistake and also to possibly prevent other people from doing the same.

On the other hand, I'm obviously happy with the result. I don't think it looks "perfect" anymore, but it was something I didn't expect to achieve with pencils, and a good mix of the style I was copying with the character I was portraying. You can check the step-by-step on the last pics.

Fanart - Chakuro (Kujira no Kora)

This is Chakuro, from the anime Kujira no Kora/Children of the Whales. He is a really cute and good-hearted boy and one of the favorites characters of my best friend, so I decided to draw the fanart as a gift.

Portrait - Quick sketches

Quick portraits (the goal was to actually be quick, not to be precise) made with references found on pinterest, all on [www]. Just a pair of pages from my sketchbook of 2020.

Fanart: Skyrim kids

Step-by-step, before adoption:

Step-by-step, after adoption:

A fanart of Sissel, Lucia and Sofie adopted by my Dragoborn Talos in my fic Memories of a Dragon [www] (Sissel hasn’t been adopted yet in the published chapters). I tried to conceptualize how they would look before and after adoption, and I’m pretty happy with the results, since they are really similar to how they look in-game but have slight differences to reflect their personalities and what they have been through. Hope you like them :)
