Q: Isn't blogger outdated?
A: Yes, and I know it's harder to take seriously. but it's way easier to set up than other platforms and I don't have to buy a domain to use it. In any case I had priorities. Not even the template is mine, and I know how to do templates - I didn't have time to waste.
Q: Why do you display both personal and professional projects in your portfolio?
A: Three reasons:
- On one hand, my interest and personal projects are closely tied to things I do or want to do professionally, as as such can be seen as a contribution to my professional skills.
- On other hand, compiling in one place all of the things I've done also denotes my progress, and also allows me to showcase how easily I blend different categories: for example, how I blend my artistic skills and my old passion for blogging with the need to create templates for apps I have to develop.
- Finally, I believe that authenticity is a form of empowerment and a tool to help me reach my truest potential. I don't want to chop a part of me to make myself more presentable to the market, especially because that's what most people already do, in particular when they go to job interviews.
Q: Is your name Anilyan?
A: No, it's Ana Rita. But Anilyan is my artistic name and the one I use to sign all personal works. About my birthname, I would prefer to avoid it since it's - here in Portugal - in the list of feminine names and I'm non-binary, so, not a woman. There's a name in portuguese that I would like to use instead, that is so similar that could pass as a abbreviation or a mix between my two first names: Ari. Sadly, I can't change it officially because that name is in the list of masculine names. If I changed my registered gender to masculine, I could make the name change, but I'm not going to pay a lot of money to change to a gender as wrong as the currently registered.
Q: Are you accepting commissions?
A: Yes, though not all kinds of commission are open all the time. Check on [this page].
Q: I click on a Collection/Tag and while the url changes, I only see the homepage, not the filtered posts.
A: The page with the filtered posts is not much different from the homepage. You will have to go to the section "Portfolio" (you can jump to it by clicking on the respective word on the navigation bar at the top", and you should see something like this: [click to view image]
Q: Have you thought about a career in the game industry?
A: I have, a lot, but not for a close future. I still have a lot of skills I would like to enhance before getting to that point, and more importantly, I haven't decided yet what exactly do I want to do in the industry. I like pretty much everything, from the coding to the art and even the writing and designing, and inside each of those categories I could still chose different branches. I think I have a lot to mature before heading for that path.
