A minimal layout with a beautiful header, but the good parts stop there - at least, according to what I think now, though I still understand why I liked certain things at the time, and I even fixed some of the worst parts to recycle it for my portuguese portfolio (now in hiatus). It's from a transitory phase, where the styles were not as excessive as in my older layouts and I was more careful with the alignments, yet still not responsive and far from what would be considered a good layout today.
That said, one of the purposes of this blog is to show how my skills evolved, so I'm not shying away of displaying how I started. But looking at this, I also realize that, while my skills evolved, my creativity... not so much. Especially now that minimalism is so valued, I feel like there is less freedom for people to mess around. If some of the ideas I had for this layout were more polished or better executed, the result might have been better. That's one of the reasons why I applaud people who are still going strong with old blogs and continue creating "old-school" templates for their personal corner of the web.
